The hockey school now known as 4 The Game was originally founded in 2005 under the name South Simcoe Hockey School. Established in Innisfil, Ontario, the program was created to provide young players with high-quality, confidence-building hockey development. Over the years, it became known for its skill-focused instruction, community involvement, and partnerships with local hockey associations. As the program grew and evolved, it rebranded to 4 The Game, continuing its legacy of delivering top-tier training through camps, clinics, and team development sessions across Barrie and the South Simcoe region.

Steve Sands is a seasoned coach and development leader with decades of experience both on the ice and behind the bench. As a player, he competed at the highest levels of minor hockey with Chinguacousy (Bramalea) AAA, Toronto Young Nationals and Toronto Red Wings before moving on to a strong Junior career, including time with the Bradford Bulls (Jr.C),

St Mikes Buzzers (Jr.B), Aurora Eagles (Jr.B)
and Bramalea Blues (Jr.A).
Steve transitioned into coaching in the mid-90s with the Toronto Red Wings and spent over 15 years with the Barrie Colts Minor Hockey Association, guiding players from U7 through U16 at the A and AA levels. His extensive coaching background is matched by his long-standing work in player development, beginning with Varsity Hockey School in Brampton in 1998 and continuing through the founding of South Simcoe Hockey School in 2005. Now leading 4 The Game, Steve brings unmatched experience, professionalism, and a development-first mindset to every session. His deep roots in the game, structured teaching style, and passion for player growth make him a trusted leader who consistently helps athletes reach their full potential.
